Hello,

This is a preliminary work. The rules will be checked, changed and edited until we start the first officiel season. You can take part to the debates in the "atelier" section of this forum.

What is the GP Island ?

In Trackmania, you are used to race in Time Attack or Rounds mode. Here, the idea is to organize a race in Laps mode, i.e. several laps on a loop track, without stop.

This idea comes from the GP Coast competition, which existed previously to the GP Island. The GP Coast is an only-coast event, proposing realistic, tight and fun races. Here, it is an island "remake".

Each GP (Grand Prix) is a 15 minutes long race on on a track. It means everybody must race several laps without give-up (don't press delete !) to be ranked. The first to finish the defined number of laps is the winner of the GP. The following is 2nd, and so on. Each week, 2 GP are raced (15 + 15 minutes, with a break) in the same day. Before each GP, there is a 3 laps warm-up session (= WU). During the WU, you can discover the track or remember it if you already trained.

Each GP is a part of a season (which is about 2 months long). Each player earns points at the end of each GP, and the sum of the points earned by a player over all the season makes his final score. The overall standings ranks player from the one who earned the most points to the one who earned the least points. In the same manner, teams recieves points and there is an overall ranking for teams also. This is quite similar to the "Formula One" championship ranking, except that most players can earn points. Therefore, 2 titles are given at the end of each season : a Champions of the players and a Champion of the teams.

A several weeks long lag can be between two seasons. When the new season comes, a piece of news is posted on this forum.

What are the rules to know before to register ?

All players are agreed to race regardless or their age, their level or their nationality.

But is is asked to all competitors to respect some basic fair-play rules, and to don't forget that the GP Island is most of all for fun. It isn't an official competition targeting to meet the best drivers of the word and to compare their skill, but rather a nice gaming moment to play.

Players are asked to not use a 3D model too big, because it may bother other competitors. However, all 3D models will be agreed provided that nobody complaints. In case of complaint, the default car (Nadeo Island model) must be used.

We ask you to register on this forum before to take part to the race, because it makes the administration easier (choose the number of servers to open, and so on...). However, you are not forbidden to race if you didn't register.

Last but not least, we advise you to come 10 or 15 minutes before the official start, because we do not wait for players who are still to come when it is time, so you may miss the start if you come precisely on the official schedule time.

How to register ?

If you want to take part as a team :

You must oficially register your team on the forum in the guichet part. To register, you just need to provide us the following information :

Name of your team,
Tag of your team,
All players' nicknames and logins,
Website or Forum (optional : it just helps us to contact you when a new season starts),
Comments (optional also).

Note (1) : A player is ranked in the individual ranking even if he is in a team. He contributes both to his own score in the championship for players and to his team's score in the championship for teams.

Note (2) : It is possible to add or delete players to your team line-up during any season. Just write comments in the thread where you registered and the changes will be taken into account.

Note (3) : Each team must have at least 3 players. There is no upper limit.

If you don't have a team :

This part is for players who haven't a team, or players who have one which most of members don't want to race the GP Island. Two ways :

You can take part as a single player. Then, no registration is needed.

You can join other players and race for a special GP Island team. You can find free teammates on the Meetic section of this forum. The registration of such a team is made like for an official team. So, see above.

In both cases, don't forget to remember the password before to join the server. The password is : gpisland.

How to take part to the maps selection ?

Before each season, a pack of maps is proposed. You can give your opinion about all the maps by voting on the training server :

Server : GP Island
Location : France / Haute Normandie / Eure
Password : gpisland

The best rated maps will be used for the competitions. Other maps may be used in furures season if we suffer a lack of maps.

How to have your map raced in GP Island ?

Before to send us any map, please check that your map complies all the features needed :

Features

- Made on Island environment,
- Made in "Day" mood (it means that "night", "sunrise" and "sunset" are forbidden) and without mod,
- Be compatible with Laps mode (i.e. contains the yellow block which makes both start and finish),
- It must be possible to respawn from all the checkpoints of the map,
- The length of one lap must be between 1 and 2 minutes,,
- Don't use forbidden blocks, which are : all kinds of turbo-boost rouges, vertical turns (Note : climb / downhill curves can bu used but shouldn't be used a lot).

The level of maps must be intermediate, which means :
- UL standard technical maps will not be agreed (too much technical),
- Fullspeed maps will not be agreed also (not enough technical).
- Good flow and fun are researched overall.

When you have all checked, you can send it to me :
- via e-mail,
- via personal message,
- making a thread here : magasin.

TMX links agreed.

If you want to debate about these rules, please answer in the "atelier" section rather than here. Thanks.
